Transformers to Togo
As the logistics world is troubled with port congestion, lack of haulage and challenges of staff working from home, Lysander Shipping has yet again proven that we can rise to the challenge and succeed in shipping your OOG cargo safely and on time, every time.
In August, Lysander Italy were approached by our partners to quote for 2 x transformers at 42,000kgs each, to be shipped from Livorno, Italy to Lome, Togo, along with 5 x 40HC of accessories and oil for a Hydropower plant. After being told we had been awarded the shipment, our team set to work applying for road permits to move the heavy transformers, which were received within our deadline of 3 weeks.
However, due to some technical issues at destination pertaining the movement of goods from the port to the site, there was some delay. In December the go ahead was received and we continued with the shipment. At 5.2 x 2.4 x 3.05m each we concluded that the cargo was able to be moved on 1 x 40’ Mafi along with the containerised cargo and although Christmas is the busiest and most congested time of year for ports and hauliers across the world, we succeeded in meeting our target vessel on 23/12.
