Naples to Kuwait
In February our Genoa office handled a RORO shipment combining Mafi’s, Open Tops, Flat Racks and standard containers from Naples to Kuwait.
The cargo consisted of 2 x 40’ mafi measuring 994 x 324 x 404cm, 38500kgs each, along with 2 X 40’ OT at 327cm high and 2 x 40’ FR measuring 1064 x 367 x 310cm, 19660kgs each, as well as 2 x 40ST.
Due to the overweight nature of the cargo, it needed to travel by RORO service on a mafi as a container service would not be able to handle the high weight during loading and unloading of the vessel.
The customer requested shipment ex Bari, however as there are no regular RORO services ex Bari to Kuwait we proposed Naples as an alternative port of loading, which provided the best route, frequency and was the most cost effective option for the customer.
The cargo departed from Naples on a combined RORO/LILO vessel and was transshipped on 2 separate vessels (a RORO one for the mafis and a LILO for the containers) at the transshipment port Jebel Ali.
